So, I was doing my regular swoop on the local charity shops today and came across these
How great are they?! I love, love, love them! I have no idea how old they are and the screw tops are really a bit rusty and they actually have glass tops. I’ve never seen that before.
I’m not sure if it would be safe to use them for food, I’m gonna have to do some research…unless you could tell me, but hey…they are still SO cool. How much did these beauties cost, I hear you ask….?
One pound each. I call that a bargain. If push comes to shove I’ll turn them into a light fixture!

Now, you know how I was moaning about how crappy the photos were in my last post, well….look what I got in the post yesterday.
( Crappy photo of my new camera)
From My wonderful, beautiful, thoughtful, all round good egg of a sister. (Please don’t forget that we are twins and therefore I also have all of these traits.)
She read my blog and realised that she had a spare camera just lying around (as you do!) And posted it to me. You are an absolute star Debs!
So…the moral of this story is “If you don’t ask you don’t get.”
Now, did I also mention that I am in desperate need of an ipad, new sofas and a two-week holiday in Italy?

Please stay with me while I work out this whole blogging/posting pictures thing! I was offered an upgrade of my browser today and I (daftly) said yes……Now I can’t find anything… I’ll get back into it in a bit I’m sure. Anyway!…………..(also… please don’t hate me because of the pictures, I’m aware that they are awful .I’m just waiting for someone to offer me a very nice and very free camera!)
I made this for someone special….~I hope she likes it…she likes to write.
I haven’t played about with anything inky or gluey for a long time but I really enjoyed making this!
my inspiration came from the most amazing necklace that I bought for this person.
How beautiful is that? I desperately need one of these for myself. It’s from fable and fury. You really need to check out their shop…..(Tom Waits cameo necklace anyone?….Yes please!)
So…I built her a book…. with a little secret compartment at the back to hold the pendant.
I built the book by hand using the coptic stitch method. I had no instructions or plans so I was just winging it with regards to lining the compartment (It was a veritable feat of engineering let me tell you!)
(Script paper is from the inside of an All Saints carrier bag)
(Tim Holtz book-plate, pen nib from Hobbycraft and the paper is by Bo Bunny and called Cambridge Blue. looks so much better IRL .)
Leather from Designer remnants. A fantastic shop and blog that happens to be owned by my twin and her husband. (I know…how handy is that?) The chain running down the side is the actual necklace. I’m not sure if you can make it out but there is a faint shadow of a set of wings in the middle of the paper…see them?
Of course, I didn’t even consider taking pictures as I was building it….Duh! so if I ever get around to it, I’ll build another one and post a tute….this was serious fun to make.
I’ve linked this up to Todays Creative Blog. Oh so much pressure for a newbie! have I done that right? Does the link work? I hope so….still learning.

Remember I posted that picture of my mannequin that I was planning to do something with?
Well…I finally got around to dressing her!
I went to Chepstow the other day and managed to bag myself a couple of these….
So…after a very agreeable afternoon of sack racing in the back garden I finally did this with them…..
Now….Doesn’t she look better….if not a tad warmer!

in crafty stuff
I also attached a couple of nutmeg graters to the side on screws so that they are removable. The top one holds whole nutmegs (I know…crazy right?!) The bottom one I slightly adapted to hold a few chalk sticks. I LOVE the fork handle. (insert your own “Two Ronnies” joke here)
Sadly, this is just WAY too small to hold my herbs and spices these days. What else could I use it for? Ideas please!

please excuse the bad photos. it was taken on my old mobile phone. but this is the before…. an awful xmas pressie filled with bath “stuff” (if you know me…you know I don’t do baths) I couldn’t bring myself to throw it away…this baby was begging for something. you could almost hear it apologising for what it was.
anyway…after 2 years, it evolved into this. you can see how it’s done so I will not bore you with a tute! I just wish i could fit more herbs and spices in it. i keep my favourite herbs etc in it but it”s just not big enough. If you know where i can get anothet 4 of these…. let me know, i’ll be interested
